Kari Martin is a part-time comedian and writer, but a full-time wine drinker and lover of all things true crime. If she ever gets a dog, it will be a dachshund and she will name it Succinylcholine, or Succs for short. Hailing from a small Midwestern town of 6000 named Chillicothe, Illinois, Kari moved out to Long Beach CA in 1996 after a new rapper emerged on the scene with a prolific album called “Doggystyle.” An English Creative Writing major at Cal State Long Beach, Kari had always wanted to be a novel writer. That proved to be a lot of work so she put her creative dreams on hold to work for The Man. After a brief two year stay in Orlando, Florida, for her Corporate job, Kari was packing to move back to California when she found a Bucket List that she had made at the tender, impressionable age of 22. One of the items on the list was to try stand-up comedy…so after half a dozen Chardonnays, Kari tried stand-up comedy for the first time at 35 years old at the Gaslamp in Long Beach, CA.
